Contralto

Contralto has been compared to Byredo Bal D’Afrique - I agree and would add that Contralto has a bit more complexity and better longevity. There's something compelling about Contralto - bright citrus & juniper, white floral, creaminess, and aromatic woods. I didn't get a lot of development, but it's so good right out of the bottle that it wasn't really a problem.

I haven’t smelled Bal D’Afrique yet. But I bought a decant of Contralto, out of interest in this kind of scent profile and notes. It’s got a burst of citrics at the top and a woody base with great longevity. Projection is terrific. I even may have oversprayed the first time I wore it. I’ll go lighter next time. I’ll buy a full bottle whenever possible, as this is a masterpiece in my opinion. Very enjoyable!!

I wanted to try this because of the comparisons to Bal D’Afrique. When I first sprayed this on paper it was beautiful and I thought “oh absolutely”, but after about 30 minutes I smelled the paper again and was disgusted. Super synthetic and plastic smelling. On my skin it completely skipped the pretty citrus opening and immediately went into the plastic element. Huge disappointment but glad I was able to test it out first

I tried Sospiro's Vibrato and LOVED it. So, I tried two more samples in their line: Contralto and Dolce Melodia, plus Aican by Kajal. When I first applied them there was an obvious difference in each fragrance, with Contralto having a fresher, cleaner scent than the other two. However, I realized that in the dry down they all smelled remarkably similar. They are all way too sweet and have a generic kind of scent, in my opinion. Perhaps it's because they all have vanilla as a bottom note (don't love vanilla). I was disappointed in all three. I'm looking for a brighter fragrance, I guess.

Very nice fragrance. One of the most addictive scent profiles out there imo. To me this is an all year round fragrance that you could pull off pretty much any time of day. My only issue with it is that it doesn’t last long on me. I did about 7 sprays and it became a skin scent by hour #2. After 2 hours people around me could hardly smell it. I’m glad I sampled instead of pulling the trigger on this fragrance.

Its in the same vein as Bal de Afic but with better performance, great for this time of year.

I love this fragrance and wear it often. I receive compliments constantly and the scent lasts.
