Iris Palladium

I organized a 'flight' of iris fragrances, going back to Chanel 1957 and Comete, and then on to the new explosion of options with iris in them.

This is not a cold, indolic iris. But it is a pleasant nose full of iris with a full range of root to creamy (full bodied, well balanced) and ending in a diffuse sillage. Very wearable and now one of my faves in a regular rotation. This brand seems to be turning out hit after hit in the past few years!

I will admit, when I first tested Iris Palladium on the paper test strip, I didn’t think it was going to be for me. Initially it smelled a little dusty, a little astringent and reminded me of some sort of spray cleaner. I sprayed it on my skin and oh was I absolutely wrong. It just absolutely transformed. This is an elegant fragrance without being powdery. On skin, it opens with a rich iris butter, that begins to dry down into soft woods, and settles into a subtle warmth. It’s modern, sculpted but yet somehow oddly familiar. It’s a masterpiece.

I’ve enjoyed Iris Palladium sample a lot. I can see why it would be put in the same sphere as Gris Charnel, especially at the top, because of the cardamom presence. But they go in different directions afterwards. Iris Palladium is the softer, less sharp version, with a sweeter essence. It is also more powdery and I can detect lavender in the background all throughout. The score of 4 stars is due to longevity and staying power. I’ve tested Gris Charnel and IRis Palladium simultaneously on my hands and even though Gris Charnel is not a powerhouse on my skin, I can still feel its presence whereas IP is very, very faint at this point. That keeps me from wanting a full bottle. A pity, because the smell was a love for me.

The most beautiful iris- I love this so much!

This is the most beautiful, intoxicating, sophisticated Iris scent i have ever laid my nose on. Signature worthy.

Now I am not a big iris lover. Les EAUX Primordiales have made a magical blend of powdery iris and violet with some warm cardamom and sweet vanilla. A unique take on iris in my opinion. The soft florals work so well and intertwines with the notes of this perfume. I knew after the first spray and dry down that Iris Palladium needed to be part of my collection!
