Exit The King

Exit the King opens very clean and almost aggressively soapy—like foam, aldehydes, and fresh laundry all hitting at once. There’s a bright pink pepper and floral lift (rose, lily of the valley, jasmine), but everything is filtered through that “fresh shower + clean sheets” effect. It feels modern but slightly retro at the same time, like a luxury bar soap or freshly washed skin in a cold, bright room.

As it dries down, it shifts into a softer mossy-woody base with patchouli, sandalwood, and ambroxan, keeping that clean vibe but adding a faint earthy, skin-like depth. It stays pretty linear overall—soapy at the core from start to finish—but becomes more intimate and slightly musky over time. The vibe is polished, nostalgic, and very “clean person energy,” though it can read a bit sharp or overly aldehydic depending on skin.

Soap notes are my favorite, so I was excited for my first try of this fragrance house. But sadly, it's not for me. I gravitate toward unisex or masculine-leaning scents as a woman, but this one was a bit too masculine for me. To me it smelled like men's aftershave. I washed it off without giving it a full day's chance so maybe I'll try again. My husband liked it though!

It smells like taking a bath in France. It really is kind of soapy and florally, but I love it. If you like florals, you should try this. Will definitely be buying a larger decant, maybe a full bottle.
