Ceylon by Xerjoff is a Woody Floral Musk fragrance for Women & Men.
Ceylon is a bold and luxurious fragrance that reimagines the concept of tea scents, elevating the delicate and ethereal notes of tea into something richer, deeper, and more decadent. Inspired by the exquisite black tea from Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon), Ceylon is a sumptuous blend that combines the richness of tea with oriental and gourmand elements. The fragrance opens with a sweet, honeyed note of jasmine sambac and a touch of Calabrian bergamot, creating a bright, aromatic introduction. At the heart, the true essence of the fragrance emerges with the smoky, jet-black richness of Ceylon tea, perfectly balanced by the deep, woody notes of Malaysian oud and Indian sandalwood. As the fragrance dries down, the mouthwatering warmth of Madagascar vanilla and the powdery sweetness of amber create a creamy, sensual base that harmonizes beautifully with the tea and woody notes, leaving behind a smooth, captivating scent.
Ceylon is for those who enjoy complex, rich fragrances that challenge traditional tea scents. Its balance of sweet, woody, and balsamic notes makes it perfect for evening wear or special occasions, especially for those who are drawn to opulent and daring compositions.

Notes:

Initial spray & dry down were equally awful. I love most Xerjoff fragrances and I was hoping that I’d like this one too. Nope!
This tea scent is worlds away from the floral/effervescent (Tommy Girl, Moschino Funny), ethereal/ephemeral (Jo Malone Darjeeling), and even fruity/resinous/dignified (Le Labo The Noir) takes on tea by other designers--each of which are also favorites of mine. What caught my attention before the bergamot, honey, or tea of the ScentSplit description was an animalic volatile (almost ammoniac) note (I'd guess it's a synergy between oud and jasmine sambac), which is joined by the sweeter, fuller oud signature early on. The woody/musty aspect of oud and the fermented-leaf-tannic aspect of tea flow together seamlessly below the ammoniac sting and animalic sweetness. The bergamot and honey surround the tea at the heart and reinforce its linalool aspects; its woody darkness gets reinforced by sandalwood. Some hours later the animalic note has dissipated, replaced by a sweet, tenacious vanilla/amber or benzoin-like drydown; there was almost a whiff of tobacco as the darker facets of tea blended with this on their way out.
As soon as I put this on my husband exclaimed over it. Ceylon is a keeper--and reserved for romantic occasions.
