Après l’Amour is a 1960’s Serge Gainsbourg song filtered through the synth pop sensibilities of the 1980’s: candied lemon-rind musks and animalic notes suspended in a haze of modern woody-ambery aromachemicals. It smells like human skin after lovemaking – erotically charged, moist, musky – but thanks to a mesh of powerfully dry, smoky woods and electric ambers, broadcast at high volume to the rest of the world. It’s this constant shifting of the scent from intimate to radiant and back to intimate again that makes Après l’Amour work. It seems to come with its own atmosphere - a crackle of electricity in the air; the rumbling of a storm to come. Utterly modern, even a bit brash, it’s one of those my-skin-but-better fragrances that send out a subliminal message of attractiveness without you really knowing why or how. If you like scents such as Molecule 01 and Another 13, make sure you don’t miss out on Après l’Amour.

Notes:

bitter orange, lemon zest, aromatic notes, fresh spice, dry wood, amber, musk

Not ideal for me

This isn't a scent profile I find enjoyable. I get the reference to Baccarat Rouge. They're both melted candy sweet. Off my skin, Après L'Amour further smells of crisp/frosty light beer, minty herbs, and fruity lip balm. Body chemistry can play nasty jokes on you at times. But oh well, I tried.

I bought this based on a glowing review, I'm glad I got a sample. It reminds me of BR 540 but with a smokier note. Also very strong projection. It's not one I would order full size.

Very very strong fragrance

Smells like Baccarat Rouge Extrait but for me unpleasantly so. Strong lasting chemical smell one spritz fills the whole room. I had to scrub it off.

Nice scent

Pretty, but still love BACCARAT more.

I have never thrown away a perfume…

After my shower, I was excited to try No. 4 Après L’amour. When I opened the sample, I thought it smelled pretty, but on my skin it became a strong scent that I can only compare to diesel fuel. It actually made me feel nauseous. It was the worst scent I have ever smelled, and I ended up having to shower again after trying unsuccessfully to remove with rubbing alcohol. I threw the sample away.
