An intense but discreet fragrance with exotic and pleasantly spicy scents. Sri Lanka opens with sparkling notes of ginger, a typical root of the island from which the perfume takes its name, and then gives way to a heart of Ceylon red tea, a precious ingredient with surprising invigorating properties. The base note of vetiver and cedar wood gives the scent a pleasant persistence.
Legend has it that tea was discovered by an Indian Buddhist monk named Dharma. During a trip to China, the monk undertook a long meditation, but at the end of the seventh year, he gave in and fell asleep. Waking up abruptly, he decided to deprive himself of his eyelids so as not to sleep anymore. Struck by such devotion, Buddha sprouted tea plants with unmistakable eyelid-shaped leaves in the exact spot where the monk had buried his own. After tasting the leaves, Dharma found that beings were able to give the meditator the energy they needed to resist sleep.
