1979 New Wave

I tried a 2ml of this at the beginning of the year and wasn't really feeling it- or so I thought. To my surprise, I found myself myself thinking about this minty gem long after I'd written it off to the point where I ended up revisiting and getting a 10 ml.

I'm so glad I was able to live with this a little more because this is glorious. The mint is such a gift to the senses at the open and blends with the orris, cedar, and sandalwood so beautifully upon drydown. It's so refreshing in the summer heat and while it smells good on clothing, it SINGS on skin. I love it so much and am definitely going to get a full bottle as I can see myself wearing this all year round.

The mint here is to die for. Not toothpasty, but actual fresh and herbal mint. The iris here also brings out this cooling feel into the forefront, which could possibly make this work on the hotter summer days as well.

I love the minty woody opening. I like that it sits close to the skin, but somewhere between the heart and the drydown it goes a little stale? I'm actually kinda sad about.

This is my new favorite perfume. Mint and a creamy iris, with a nice woody base to ground it. Absolutely stunning - ethereal and distinct. All time for me.

Oh man, this was a huge swing and a miss for me. I get a nice enough spearmint note, then something like dirty rubber shoe soles. Or #2 pencil eraser in a bad way. This doesn’t just feel like a scent that’s not right for me personally. My animal brain is saying, “No, no, bad!” to this one from a primal place. I’ve got somewhere in the neighborhood of 60 samples and bottles, and this is 1 of only 2 that I just can’t fathom anyone wanting. It doesn’t make sense to me. I can’t see what Dominique Ropion was even trying to do. Although clearly the other reviewer and I disagree. But proceed with caution!
