In the latest release from Imaginary Authors, perfumer Josh Meyer takes a coastal forest of spruce and kicks up the wind that carries a cold, salty sea spray. Josh plays with calone, a tricky note that he manages to make smooth and uncontroversial here (of course he used calone to achieve this effect), and once again Imaginary Authors has a perfume that plays with words as nimbly as it plays with notes. Every Storm a Serenade is musical indeed, the deep black waves topped with icy white caps striking a brooding minor chord.

NOTES
Danish spruce, eucalyptus, vetiver, calone, ambergris, Baltic sea mist

Light, fresh, green, ambery with no smoke

Light, fresh, greenish, ambery scent that wears well the whole day. I like the clean, unisex vibe and the simplicity that comes with this product’s lack of smokiness which is commonly found in similar scents.

Nothing special

If three stars is okay then this is mildly unpleasant

Stormy, ocean spray, fresh green/blue tones..... fantastic scent.

This is by far my favorite. It has a crisp clean opening with a touch of ambergris which gives it a bit of a bite. It reminds me of being near the ocean during a thunderstorm with the salty air and freshness. It wears well and is not overpowering. It is a blue green scent with a touch of pine in the background. They hit a home run with this one. mostly more a fall and early spring scent but would wear well anytime.

Like a sexy pirate vibes!

I got hit with a huge almost Smokey scent on first application/sniff. Overall, the scent is very oceanic salty vibes. It’s a nice machine scent and isn’t too heavy or overbearing.

Love!

I got a sample set of this house for Christmas and fell in love with this scent. It makes me think of being on cold beach with a storm rolling in. It's salty and green with a bit of ozone, and to me it feels very unisex.

The decant I got is wonderful, the bottle is sturdy glass and the spray is perfect.

Unique. Long Lasting. Weird.

When I first spritzed this on it smelled very much like rain, to me. Probably the spruce. After the dry down it ended up just smelling like a musty, vintage, hardcover book. I won't say it's a bad fragrance, it just isn't what I was hoping for. The longevity seems to be solid as it has been hours and I can still smell it on my wrist. If you like the smell of vintage books you might enjoy this. For me it's just too dry and musty.

Murky Waters

The first note I get is sharp and electrical, like the air after a lightning strike. It's gone quickly, and then there is a salty, dank sea essence that dominates the scent - probably the calone and ambergris. I never can pick up the spruce or eucalyptus for some reason.

I like that this one tells a story, but I get negative reactions from other people; it's a challenging one to wear.
