"The years passed at the French court, and the nostalgia for Italy and my beloved Florence was increasingly stronger. The memories of my family and my early life came back forcefully to my mind. I spoke about it with my faithful Renato , my personal perfumer who had followed me to Florence, confiding in him that I missed the joy and carefreeness I had when I was young, the happiness of small things, I missed Florence and its art, the celestial vault full of angelic and heavenly figures of my palace, the night sky of Tuscany, the scent of its nature... I missed the roots of my memory. After a few days Renato brought me a wonderful fragrant creation as a gift, which changed my state of mind and made me find serenity. I don't know if it was dedicated to me, inspired by my story, but he called it Canto dell'Angelo."
