It begins the way an old barbershop smells on a bright morning bergamot and grapefruit snapping clean and sharp, mandarin and elemi adding a resinous, sunlit lift, herbs like rosemary and lavender threading through. It's wild and polished at once, the feeling of a fresh shave. Then the garden opens.
White rose unfurls at the center, plush and velvety, almost like dessert innocent and indulgent together, with marigold, ylang ylang, and honeysuckle crowding in around it. Something powdery and faintly green lingers just beneath, but the rose holds court. Slowly the woods pull up a chair. Cedar, patchouli, and damp oakmoss settle in, warmed by a whisper of oud and the soft animal hum of hyraceum and ambergris.
