The brand is inspired by the Sanskrit concept of Loka, referring to different dimensions or realms of reality. Its name combines Lila (play) and Maya (illusion), reflecting the philosophical idea of existence as an illusory cosmic play containing infinite worlds and possibilities. Each fragrance is developed as an interpretation of a distinct Loka, with compositions intended to explore themes of imagination, memory, and emotion through scent. The perfumes are produced in small batches in Yorkshire, England, with each creation designed to represent a unique sensory journey inspired by these concepts.
