Hakuna Matata

The banana, honey and amber shine on my skin. An interesting concoction that is worth discovering if you like banana. I’ll likely finish the sample.

Hakuna Matata is EXACTLY what I want to wear as this summer’s signature scent! It’s light and not overpowering in hot weather. And the vibes are warm, bright, tropical, sunny, joyful, uplifting, smiley, cheerful, and instantly mood-boosting. I have to have something like that in heavy rotation in my fragrance wardrobe! Lately, I’ve been obsessed with sampling banana note fragrances that don’t also contain lactonic notes, since those go sour on me. This is my favorite of the bunch, though Mutis Nueva Granada’s Macondo is a worthy runner up. That one’s a true extrait, but this EDP performs like an extrait! I’ve had it on for 8 hours in the office, and it’s shown no signs of stopping. The projection is a solid medium, but nothing outlandish, which is good for me. It goes on slightly indolic from the jasmine, which I was misidentifying as ylang ylang til I reread the listed notes. As it wears, it does feel softer in the florals and less syrupy than my favorite ylang scent, Perris Monte Carlo’s Ylang Ylang Nosy Be. So that feels true to my experiences of jasmine and orange blossom. The impresssion that lasts forever in the wear is a fruity-not-fake banana drizzled with just-harvested honey. Honey is a tricky note on me. It often goes sickly sweet with my body chemistry. But this whole composition stays soooo pretty and balanced and natural on my skin. Hakuna Matata is slightly traditionally feminine in the white florals and the sweetness, but it’s also super banana-y. That note doesn’t really say either gender to me. I would enthusiastically encourage everyone to try this!!!!

This is so sweet and juicy, love at first spray. The only reason I did not rate it higher is because I am not sure of the floral notes with my skin chemistry.
