When we met with Jousset at the perfume exhibition of Esxence in Milano, we discussed a different type of gourmand perfume. Something extraordinary in every aspect from the scent to tenacity and sillage. There was no doubt that Jimmy Bodin would deliver the very thing we were looking for and he did way better than our expectations! Oh My Gourmand, a brilliant name for such an extravagant delivery.
The first thing about this perfume is that it’s not similar to other gourmand scents, yet it apparently is in the gourmand category. It unfurls with a powerful whiff of a musty fruity freshness of red currant, reinforced with effervescence of ripe orange peel, both encrusted into a robust, yummy texture of hazelnut cookies. But there’s something powdery, delicate, and sentimental in this perfume that makes it apart from the main gourmand deliveries, and that’s the blend of orris root and rice powder that is nicely implemented into the mixture of pastry notes of custard, butter, and meringue.
The powdery side is the main identity and the focal point in the transition from the top to the base – although it’s a linear composition with a soft transition. It surprisingly links the modernist trend to a glorious past that was known for powdery femininity.
Oh My Gourmand is pleasure-forward, it’s classy, and profound scent that comes in handy better in cooler weather or evenings. A perfume with a jaw-dropping longevity and enormous sillage. A full-bodied exclusive delivery.
