The Darley Arabian is one of the most venerable Arabian thoroughbreds in the world, a breed named for the alpha steed originally introduced to Europe from Aleppo, and still a go-to in the world of horse breeding. As a fragrance, Darley stays true to this strong and exotic pedigree with a masculine scent that features exoticism and nobility in equal measure, a fresh fougere with a soft floral heart and a spicy oriental base.
Darley opens with an energetic, crisp burst of lemon and bergamot, made unique with a delightfully fresh mint note. The heart of the fragrance sings of royal refinement with a luscious rose, rounded out with orange blossom and classically masculine lavender, and given a kick with savory rosemary and fiery cinnamon. In the base, a spicy patchouli winds around sandalwood and tonka for an intense but smoothly sophisticated drydown that lingers for hours. It's nice to try brand-new things. But as Darley, both horse and fragrance, prove, the originals are often the very best.
