Clean and Subtle, Herbaceous and Bright: An All-Season Powerhouse Scent

This perfume is for the clean-and-subtle enjoyers: it's got a strong, cedar-cypress-juniper opening, but this dies down within minutes to a relaxed, slightly citric herbal blend. As it ages, it rounds out and becomes totally skinlike with clean musks and a subtle amber base. This is a very unisex perfume, and fits neatly into a sort of clean-soapy spot without feeling outdated or chemically. The projection and longevity do leave something to be desired, but the blend on this is fantastic, and it does feel very much like some kind of miracle water. An all-season fragrance, the soft citrus undertone places it as an appropriate summer and spring addition, but the warmer amber and woods mean it also works great for fall and winter. Incense and patchouli add an earthy undercurrent. If I could relate this to any aesthetic, it would be the film "Picnic at Hanging Rock", as it holds qualities of light and youthful freshness, vintage woods, and green, herby, earthy summer goodness. Becomes a skin scent in about two hours for me, so not great performance, despite the wonderful and innovative scent. Layers fantastic with old school, lemony colognes, clean musks, and other fir-and-herb concoctions. Layering with black pepper turns this into a suave, traditionally masculine scent, while garnishing it with sweet orange and grapefruit leans it more traditionally feminine in terms of layering combos.

Overall: Outstanding scent, totally unisex, very layerable, and all-season. A real workhorse scent profile, can be dressed up or down, fem or masc. The only area where this scent lacks is performance, as it struggles with projection and longevity. Score: 7.5/10
