Cuir Garamante, A Men’s Fragrance

Cuir Garamante was a first pick blind buy from the house of MDCI parfums. I am not familiar with this brand, but I really think that I’m going to dig this house! Blind buys of perfumes seem to feel safer at Scent Split-at least you know half of the process will go well.

There are at least 3-4 perfumes by MDCI that caught my eye that would be worth sampling. With Cuir Garamante it took several samplings for it to really catch with me—the more I wore it, the more I liked. I’m new to the perfumery scene—about 3 months. One thing that I recently learned for sure is that I really like the pink pepper scent in opening notes. Pink pepper is a fresh, spicy, slightly floral and herbal top note with a rosy nuance.
The opening of this fragrance is Saffron, pink pepper, and plenty of spicey nutmeg. The nutmeg used in this perfume creation is probably nutmeg absolute-it’s very warm, aromatic and spicy; more so than nutmeg essential oil. Also, there’s plenty of earthy, intimate, warm, and leathery saffron. The heart notes are nothing out of the norm but are with exceptional balance and choice of rose, leather, and Cypriol which make this fragrance intoxicating and intimate. There’s plenty of support in the base notes starting Sandalwood, Incense, labdanum, and Vanilla. It’s just a beautiful, classy composition.

The fragrance is so well balanced with the perfect amount of sweetness and spiciness. It says classy & confidence and gives you blanket of warm comfort while doing so. It’s not overdosed with leather-just the right combination with rose and Cypriol. Cypriol is natural and the French often use it as a substitution for Patchouli.

Other cozy aspects of the fragrance are in the base notes with labdanum and bourbon vanilla. Vanilla is cozy and warm and teams up with sweet, rich, labdanum to make it alluring and mysterious. After several test wearing on the wrist, I’m a fan of Cuir Garamante, and I will be buying a larger decant. It’s a little pricy for a full in my opinion. It’s close though! Besides, I’m new to the scene and have too many bottles to sample. I have a fairly wide variety in taste, so I’m not sure if it’s safe blind buy for most, but I’d like to say it is. My friend in the Air Force used to say, ‘there’s no such things as a bad movie.” I never understood why he could say that about movies. Today, I understand his comment more than I did many years ago. I feel that way mostly about perfumes. Every perfume has something noteworthy about it. I guess it just depends if you willing to pay for it or not. I'd say, take a chance and put this one in your cart. Great perfume house. This house also offers other great choices to pick from.
